WhatsApp Web Video Call on PC – WhatsApp is showing no signs of slowing down its rollout of new features with the latest upgrade coming to the WhatsApp web. WhatsApp web users can now answer voice and Video Call on their windows and Mac PC apps.
The company had added face and fingerprint authentication features to its web and desktop platforms earlier in January. Also, in late 2020, they introduced disappearing messages to WhatsApp web.
Even though the addition of voice and video call features might not appeal to those that prefer to use their mobile WhatsApp; however, this new feature could be an excellent alternative to other video calling options like Zoom.

According to the Facebook-owned messaging and VoIP service company, there has been a considerable surge in people using the WhatsApp call service over the last year. They estimated that on New Year’s Eve, the service set a new personal best for the most calls made in a single day with 1.4 billion voice and video calls.
The new voice and video call feature for WhatsApp web is well optimized and works both in landscape and portrait mode. Furthermore, the calls will appear in a resizable standalone window set to always be on top, so they don’t get lost in a browser tab or behind other window tabs.
WhatsApp has also assured that as with their other forms of communication, the voice and video calls feature on the desktop are end-to-end encrypted, meaning WhatsApp can’t hear or see them.
Finally, this new rollout will start with one-to-one calls on the desktop app for now to ensure a reliable and high-quality experience. In the near future, it will be expanded to include group voice and video calls.
